Are you ready for an immersive journey through sound, culture, and storytelling? The Stegi Radio Takeover 2025 is here to transform how we experience radio. Hosted by the Onassis Stegi, this unique event is a celebration of creativity, bringing together diverse voices, groundbreaking music, and innovative audio experiences under one roof.

The Stegi Radio Takeover 2025 is an ambitious project that invites artists, radio producers, and creatives from around the globe to explore the limitless possibilities of audio storytelling. This year’s event promises a dynamic lineup of live radio broadcasts, panel discussions, music sessions, and experimental soundscapes designed to engage, inspire, and challenge your perception of the auditory arts.

Two days, four stages, more than 30 artists from all over the world.

The Main Stage is once again ‘dressed’ as a club that fills with the electro outbursts of Kittin, who comes to Athens after her impressive performance at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, the impetuous rhythms of the ‘Pope’ of minimal techno Robert Hood, the politicized, insurgent jazz of Irreversible Entanglements, who released their latest album on Impulse, the playful mix of disco, acid, and techno of David Vunk, the unpredictable genre marriage of Crystallmess, the cheeky combination of trap and rebetiko of Black Morris, aka Negros tou Moria, and the uproarious garage psychedelia of Acid Baby Jesus.

Onassis Stegi -1 radiates the intensity and hedonism of an underground club in a metropolitan center where different communities and subcultures meet and mix, with the frenetic beats of De Schuurman, the Mediterranean new club blend of STILL and Deena Abdelwahed, and the Afroglobal energy of Catu Diosis, artist of the Nyege Nyege Tapes label.
The Upper Stage is dedicated to Greek artists, with live performances by the now-acclaimed The Boy, the introverted, idiosyncratic Larry Gus, the up-and-coming cabaret pop singer-songwriter Kristof, and Venus Volcanism, who mixes polyphonic and traditional singing with experimental electronic music. The Upper Stage also includes a performance by Grand River, an Italian cinematic ambient artist.

Meanwhile at Onassis Stegi +3, join us for two hours-long sets by Dimitri Papaioannou, with eclectic ambient selections, and A@H2O>, with dub, calypso, and reggae sounds, as well as a listening session by Invernomuto and a conversation between Yannis-Orestis Papadimitriou and Stoffel Debuysere, as part of the “Ways of Listening” program.

Starting 25/1: every Saturday and Sunday at 20:00.

Theatre of the NO, Athens' first English-speaking theatre, presents «SEX HONESTLY, a thought-provoking  comedy written by Romina Katsikian and co-directed by Vangelis Papadakis and Michael Edwards. Welcome to 21st-century love.

Four actors take on 24 characters, unraveling six unique stories filled with chaos, deception, and unexpected twists. With sharp dialogues and hilarious scenarios, the play satirizes the deadlocks of love in today’s world, mocking princes, exposing fragile egos, and revealing the truths we’d rather ignore.

From the small lies we tell to keep the flame alive, to the grand illusions we hold about intimacy and self-worth, this play holds up a mirror to the awkward, painful, and side-splitting realities of human connection.

at THEATRE OF THE NO

Saturday, January 25th  at 22:30

Theatre of the NO, Athens' first English speaking theatre, presents the musical duo «Polypala», featuring Andreas Polyzogopoulos (trumpet, effects) and Giorgos Palamiotis (bass, effects). On Saturday, January 25th , at 22:30 the duo will take the stage to perform both new material and compositions from their debut album, "One Inch of Love" , a work deeply inspired by nature and dedicated to reconnecting with the natural world.

Through their compositions, the duo creates a new musical "language", capturing the unique, archetypal essence of the Greek landscape, transcending geographical and social boundaries. Their music is influenced by artists such as Harold Budd and Brian Eno, as well as traditional Indonesian gamelan and Japanese gagaku orchestras.

The track titles reference real locations, such as Keros and Mt. Takao, natural phenomena like Apiary Wind and Solstice, and dreamlike moments such as A Cloud Passes Behind the Moon and Trees Breathing by the Sea.

As the artists themselves explain: "The album was recorded under an olive tree at Panagiotis’ apiary, in Tasia and Nikola’s olive grove in Langada, Amorgos, and in the park of Plato’s Academy in Athens. We hope to share some of the images that stayed with us and the emotions we experienced throughout this project."

For the first exhibition of 2025, FokiaNou Art Space presents a group show entitled “Athens Old and New”. This follows a tradition where since 2018, FokiaNou’s first show of the year has been a group show with theme of Athens. In response to an open call, 18 artists will participate with works in various media, responding to the theme of rapid and massive changes going on in Athens at present.

From the current building boom to infrastructure “improvements”, the growth in mass tourism to less tangible shifts in the local culture, the changes create the circumstances for reflection on how the city once was. The exhibition captures this particular moment in time, contributing to a creative dialogue and prompting the public to reflect on their relationship with the city and its constant transformation.

THEATRE OF THE NO, Athens’ first English-speaking theatre,  presents an extraordinary tribute to the legendary Charlie Parker, performed by  Gilad Atzmon Quartet. This electrifying event, takes place on Saturday 1st March at  22:30, offering an unforgettable evening of jazz that reimagines Parker’s timeless sound with a contemporary twist.

Far more than a nostalgic tribute, this performance is a celebration of Parker’s enduring legacy and the very essence of jazz itself.  Charlie “Bird” Parker, together with Dizzy Gillespie, revolutionized the sound of jazz, pioneering the Bebop movement and transforming Afro-American music into high art. His influence elevated jazz beyond the ballroom, establishing it as the classical music of America.

At the helm of this tribute is Gilad Atzmon, a world-renowned saxophonist and jazz visionary. Known for his ability to channel the energy and soul of jazz’s Golden Era, he brings a fresh and dynamic approach to Parker’s music. Atzmon’s 2008 album, "In Loving Memory of America" (ENJA Records), was both a best-seller and an award-winning tribute to Parker, widely praised by music lovers and critics alike. His fresh approach captures the virtuosity, soul, and electrifying energy that made Bird’s music both groundbreaking and deeply moving.

PRESS QUOTES ON ATZMON’S PARKER TRIBUTE:

“Gilad Atzmon combines thrilling jazz musicianship with a maverick political intelligence.” – The Guardian

“One of the finest alto players around. Gilad pays his respects to Bird. It’s striking how similar Gilad’s sweet, open-throated sound is to Parker’s, but as you’d expect from the fiery philosopher-turned-Blockhead, this is no mere tribute album.” – BBC Music Magazine

“Maybe because he’s such a wild card himself, saxophonist Atzmon plays Charlie Parker with a perfect mix of bluster and vulnerability.” – The Independent

“Atzmon is surely the hardest-gigging man in British jazz... the music here is subtle, ambiguous, often beautiful – and features a saxophonist playing deep from the heart.” – The Times
