If you think you don’t know any contemporary Greek designers… think again! Chances are, you’ve actually come across their work far more often than you ever imagined. Greece’s creative scene has been quietly (and sometimes not so quietly) shaping global style, popping up in places you’d never expect, from chic boutiques to international design fairs.

From sun‑soaked Mediterranean hues to beautifully crafted natural materials, the fashion world has been quietly warming up to Greek designers. Leading the way is Vassilis Zoulias, a name you’ve probably encountered without even clocking it : his creations are proudly sported by the most adored (or most hotly debated) expat of them all… Emily Cooper herself, better known as Emily in Paris!

It’s thanks to this very Greek designer that Emily Cooper’s famously colourful wardrobe came to life, the kind of outfits that ensure she never goes unnoticed on the streets of Paris. His pieces match Emily’s bubbly, headstrong personality so well it’s almost as if they were made for her... A total of eighteen looks were selected from Vassilis Zoulias’ prêt‑à‑porter collection, not only for Emily but for the ever-iconic Sylvie too.

Season 2 in particular gives us some unforgettable moments: the “Anouk” dress, a fuchsia A‑line gown that is just made for a glass of red wine in a chic Parisian restaurant; the “Vertigo” jacket, a trapeze cape whose floral pattern became such a hit it turned into an actual Emily in Paris print across multiple pieces; and the “Patricia” dress, a striking one‑shoulder ensemble. In short: vibrant colours, retro motifs, and bold combinations that, whether adored or eye‑rolled by Emily’s entourage on screen or by viewers at home, remain undeniably memorable and delightfully energising.

Zoulias’ signature style is instantly recognisable: mid‑century‑inspired cuts, feminine silhouettes with defined waists, and clean, structured lines. Add to that a gentle nod to the Mediterranean : vibrant colours, sun‑lit patterns, and just a hint of warmth under the Parisian sky. Or, as he neatly sums it up himself: “discreet elegance, femininity, and strong substance.”

With a career spanning more than 35 years — including two decades as a fashion editor for magazines such as Vogue Greece — Vassilis Zoulias finally brought his long‑held dream to life in 2002 by launching his own label. His Athens boutiques now offer everything from prêt‑à‑porter to haute couture, and even bridal collections. His collaboration with Netflix’s hit series Emily in Paris began in 2022 for the show’s second season — a fitting choice, given that the series’ costume consultant is Patricia Field, best known for her iconic work on Sex and the City. Naturally, she turned to designers capable of delivering unforgettable pieces.

If Zoulias was already dressing global stars like Gwen Stefani, Alison Brie, and Mindy Kaling, the serie undeniably shone a brighter international spotlight not only on his work, but on Greek high fashion as a whole. And the momentum doesn’t seem to be slowing down : the latest season ends with Gabriel inviting Emily to join him on his boat just off the coast of Athens … a rather promising setup for anyone hoping to see more Greek flair on screen! In the meantime ... indulge yourself with a little shopping — perhaps a few pieces by Greek designers?

The Los Angeles Chargers have significantly strengthened their presence in Greece by organizing, for the first time, a high-level Flag Football Camp in Thessaloniki today, the steadily growing momentum of the sport ahead of its inclusion in the Olympic Games. Building on the positive response to their last visit in October, the Chargers returned to Greece with the aim of inspiring the next generation of athletes and strengthening the ongoing relationship between the NFL and the Greek sporting community.

A special moment of the day was the presence of Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley, who was on the field alongside the participants, sharing valuable experiences, specialized technical knowledge, and inspiration from the top level of professional American football. The facilities of Pinewood American International School at the Anatolia Campus were transformed for one day into a fully organized, professional American football training center. More than 300 young athletes actively participated in the program, improving their skills under the guidance of the Los Angeles Chargers' specialized staff, and coaches from the Hellenic Flag Football League, who served as the official coordinators of the event.

5 Los Angeles Chargers

On the occasion of their visit to Thessaloniki, the Chargers delegation met with the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr. Stelios Angeloudis, while a special event, organized in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Greece and the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce, was held at the American Space in Thessaloniki.

As Flag Football prepares to make its Olympic debut in 2028, the Los Angeles Chargers' initiative sparked excitement for the future of the sport, leaving a strong impression in the heart of Thessaloniki and Northern Greece.

The Los Angeles Chargers landed in Athens, delivering a high-profile Flag Football showcase that highlighted the sport’s growing Olympic momentum and inspired the next generation of Greek athletes. The premier event in the heart of the Greek capital reinforced Flag Football’s emerging identity as an Olympic discipline, while strengthening the connection between American professional sports and local youth talent. The presence of Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley electrified the atmosphere, as the NFL star stepped onto the field to inspire young athletes, sharing the same passion, intensity, and competitive spirit he brings to the stadium in Los Angeles.

During the Flag Football activities at The American College of Greece, President Dr. Edward C. Wingenbach welcomed the development program, with the presence of the General Secretary of Sports, Mr. George Mavrotas, while the institution honored Mr. Josh Huck, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Greece, Mr. Fred Maas, Chief of Staff of the Chargers, and Daiyan Henley, Linebacker of the Los Angeles Chargers with special awards, in recognition of their contribution to the sport’s growth and development.

Through this initiative, the Los Angeles Chargers transformed the world-Class athletic facilities of The American College of Greece, into a professional NFL training environment. A dynamic group of more than 200 Pierce student participants, sharpened their skills at the Flag Football Camp under the expert guidance of the Los Angeles Chargers' staff, and staff from the Hellenic Flag Football League, who coordinated the day’s high-level drills. As the sport moves toward its 2028 Olympic debut, this collaboration has officially positioned Athens as a vital hub in the NFL’s global expansion.

4 Los Angeles Chargers Henley

Los Angeles Chargers strengthened their presence in Greece through two powerful NFL initiatives in Athens and Thessaloniki, aimed at promoting and developing Flag Football ahead of its inclusion in the Olympic Games 2028.

In Thessaloniki, the Chargers hosted an outstanding Flag Football Camp for the first time at the facilities of Pinewood American International School at the Anatolia Campus. More than 300 young athletes actively participated in the program, training under the guidance of the Los Angeles Chargers’ specialized staff and the Hellenic Flag Football League. A standout moment of the day was the presence of Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley, who shared valuable insights and experiences from the highest level of the NFL. During their visit, the Chargers delegation also met with the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr. Stelios Angeloudis and participated in a special event organized in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Greece and the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce at the American Space.

During the second day, a Flag Football Camp was hosted for the first time in Athens, at The American College of Greece, transforming its athletic facilities into a professional NFL training environment. More than 200 students took part in the camp, while representatives from the academic community, government officials, and the U.S. Embassy in Greece were also in attendance. Once again, the participation of Chargers Linebacker Daiyan Henley added strong momentum to the initiative, inspiring the next generation of athletes.

8 Super Bowl Night

These two initiatives culminated on Sunday, February 8, with a Super Bowl Night Watch Party held at the impressive facilities and studios of COSMOTE TV, the official broadcaster of NFL in Greece. The event brought together government officials such as US Ambassador to Greece, Ms. Kimberly Guilfoyle, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Harry Theoharis, and Secretary General of Sport, Mr. George Mavrotas, athletes, journalists, and members of the Los Angeles Chargers organization, celebrating the NFL and its growing connection with the Greek audience. Guests watched the Super Bowl live from COSMOTE TV and experienced the first NFL Live pre-game show organized in Greece featuring guests directly connected to the event such as the Chief of Staff for the Los Angeles Chargers Mr. Fred Maas, the Chargers Senior Director Football Development Mr. Zac Emde and Chargers Linebacker Daiyan Henley.

On the continued collaboration between the NFL and the Chargers’ flag football activations, the Chief of Staff for the Los Angeles Chargers, Mr. Fred Maas, highlighted: “One of Greece’s greatest strengths is its deep passion for sport, and we truly want to begin our efforts with the youth here."

7 Andrea Palombarini Kimberly Guilfoyle Daiyan Henley Manos Spanopoulos

With the 2028 Olympic year approaching, the prospect of bringing our players to Greece and hopefully being able to stage a game here in the future, reflects our ambition to introduce official NFL American football to the country. This initiative is especially meaningful for the legacy of the Spanos family and their vision of building something lasting and impactful in Greece.”

Through these initiatives, Los Angeles Chargers reaffirm their commitment to the international growth of Flag Football and to building strong, lasting ties with the Greek sports and local community. The presence of the Los Angeles Chargers carried additional symbolic significance, as the Spanos Family team’s ownership has Greek roots, further strengthening the emotional and cultural connection between the NFL organization and Greece. As a result, the Chargers’ activities in Greece represent not only an exciting international expansion, but also a meaningful homecoming that strengthens the cultural and emotional bond between the franchise and the Greek public. The Spanos Family’s vision for the Los Angeles Chargers extends beyond the field, focusing on youth development and the global growth of Flag Football, with Greece seen as a natural hub for long-term grassroots investment. By expanding NFL Flag Football initiatives in Greece, the Chargers aim to create sustainable pathways for youth participation, nurture future talent, and contribute to the sport’s growth ahead of its Olympic debut in Los Angeles 2028.

4 Daiyan Henley Kimberly Guilfoyle Thomas Walkup

All activities were supported by the U.S. Embassy in Greece, whose active involvement underscored the role of sport as a powerful tool for youth engagement, cultural exchange, and community building. Through its support, the Embassy highlighted the importance of interpersonal diplomacy and the shared values that unite Greece and the United States. The collaboration between the Los Angeles Chargers, educational institutions, local authorities, and the U.S. Embassy reflects a broader commitment to fostering international cooperation through sport, creating meaningful opportunities for young people, and strengthening the enduring relationship between the two countries.

THEATRE OF THE NO, Athens’ first English-speaking theatre, presents Samuel Beckett’s iconic one-act play “Krapp’s Last Tape”, one of the most profound and moving works of contemporary theatre. Directed by Elvira Poulianou and starring American actor David Gilliam as Krapp, the performance premieres on Monday, February 16 at 20.30. The play is performed in English with Greek subtitles.

The performance brings to the stage a solitary figure conversing with his past, revealing memories, choices, and missed opportunities. Krapp, an elderly man, sits alone in front of a tape recorder and reels of his old recordings. Through this unique dialogue with his younger self, memories, decisions, losses, and unfulfilled desires unfold from the death of his mother to romantic recollections and abandoned ambitions. Time and memory become the true protagonists in a play where silence is as powerful as the voice.

With bitter humor, moments of heavy silence, and precise language, Beckett’s work reflects on the human inability to reconcile with oneself. Although only one man appears on stage, the echoes of Krapp’s past create a chorus of unseen characters and moments that feel familiar and almost painfully real. The result is a stunning reminder of our relationship with time and the strange intimacy of hearing ourselves speak across the years.

Krapp’s fragile yet piercing journey is both personal and universally recognizable, inviting the audience to reflect on their own lives while watching his unfold on stage.

If you want to experience two of Athens' most important museums at night, you’ve made the right choice! If you love mysteries, if you aren’t afraid of the dark, if you are fascinated by old factories, or if you are enchanted by music and theater, you’ve chosen correctly once again! On Saturday, February 14, a unique experience awaits you—not in one, but in two museums, and not during the day, but at night!

Because theater loves light and energy, and because light adds a new dimension to theatrical art, they unite tonight to create something magical for all ages. Two beloved museums of the City of Athens—the Industrial Gas Museum at Technopolis and the Maria Callas Museum—partner once again to offer a delightful experience for families with children aged 6-10, inspired by the power of light and the magic of theater.

At the Industrial Gas Museum

The evening begins at 18:00. Wear something bright and join us to shed light on the mysteries of the old gasworks. Participants will discover Greece’s first energy production plant. The factory machinery, the lingering scents, and the memories of the workers will transport us back in time.

The old factory transforms into an immersive setting for the experiential mystery game "Everything into the Light."Together, we will explore the gas production line, discover the factory's most hidden corners, and illuminate the darkest "energy stories." Are we finished? Of course not… we will build our own closed energy circuit step-by-step.

At the Maria Callas Museum

After mastering the secrets of the old Athens gasworks, we will travel together by bus to the heart of the city, just as the city lights are glowing! We visit the Maria Callas Museum to discover the magic of opera and the life of the great Diva. A light meal awaits to give us the energy we need to solve the intense "Mysteries of the Opera."

When night falls at the Maria Callas Museum, the collections come alive through play, mystery, and imagination. After closing time, the exhibits begin to whisper stories, and Callas’s iconic performances seem ready to leap back to life. However, something suddenly disrupts the opera! Children and their guardians are called upon—through roles, riddles, and missions—to find out what happened.

The experience concludes with an art workshop where participants create their own stage, protagonists, and stories filled with light, turning the museum visit into an artistic adventure.

The Science (& Magic) Of Hot Springs In Greece

If you haven’t already, it’s definitely not too late to set a few thoughtful New Year’s resolutions. And here’s a charming idea to pop on the list: 2026 is all about taking care of you!

One wonderfully time‑tested way to do just that is to unwind in natural hot springs and indulge in restorative mud baths. They’re restorative, grounding, and just the right blend of ancient wisdom and modern self‑care.

Mud Baths - A Timeless Ritual For Today's Well-Being

A mud bath is a warm, cocooning soak in mineral‑rich mud made from clays and natural elements chosen for their nourishing properties. These blends often contain Sulphur for its purifying, antibacterial action; Calcium to strengthen the skin barrier; Magnesium to support cell renewal and suppleness; Zinc to calm and restore blemished skin; as well as clays, silica, or sea salts for their soothing and revitalising effects. Volcanic, marine, or thermal muds each offer distinct benefits, and when mixed with mineral water, they form a smooth, easy‑to‑apply texture.

On the skin, the mud gently exfoliates, removes impurities, and restores radiance. Its natural detoxifying action promotes clearer skin, while the protective layer helps lock in moisture. Rich in minerals, it also supports healthy cell turnover, boosts circulation, and can soften the look of fine lines by enhancing overall skin vitality.

Hot springs offer far more than the pleasure of soaking in naturally warm water. They form through a geothermal process in which rainwater seeps deep underground, heats against magmatic rock, and rises enriched with minerals. Because of its active geology, Greece is especially rich in these natural wonders, with over seven hundred hot springs, eighty‑four officially recognised for their therapeutic qualities.

Their mineral content contributes to their soothing effects: Calcium supports bones and joints, Magnesium helps muscles release tension, and Sulphur is traditionally linked to skin comfort. Warm mineral water can ease muscular and joint discomfort, promote relaxation, and support healthy circulation. The heat dilates blood vessels, improving oxygen and nutrient flow, boosting vitality, and reducing strain on the heart, which may help lower blood pressure. Buoyancy further relieves pressure on the joints, allowing deeper relaxation. Last but not least, hot water stimulates the release of endorphins, the body’s natural mood‑lifters, helping melt away stress.

Who Are Thermal Springs Ideal For

These rituals appeal to a wide range of people, from athletes easing post‑workout tension to anyone with joint discomfort, visible signs of ageing, stress, or simple fatigue. Mud baths and hot springs both offer deep relaxation and an overall boost in wellbeing. It’s worth noting, however, that they aren’t suitable for everyone, especially those with severe skin issues, open wounds, or certain cardiovascular conditions, for whom medical advice is recommended.

Mud treatments are particularly beneficial for skin concerns. Minerals like sulphur and zinc help calm inflammation, reduce acne‑related bacteria, soothe itching, and support the healing of eczema or psoriasis, leaving the skin more balanced and comfortable.

Thermal baths, on the other hand, can support people with high blood pressure or some cardiovascular issues by promoting better circulation and relaxation. Their buoyancy eases pressure on the joints, making them a gentle option for arthritis, fibromyalgia, and other chronic joint conditions. The combination of warmth and weightlessness helps the body release tension, offering both physical relief and mental calm.

In short, it’s all wonderfully positive and our ancestors understood this perfectly. These practices were embraced across ancient civilisations, from the Egyptians to the Romans and, naturally, the Greeks. No surprise, then, that Greece is still home to some truly exceptional places dedicated to wellbeing and natural rejuvenation!

Popular Hot Springs In Greece

Loutra Aidhipsoù, Evvoia

Aedipsos has a charm that’s hard to overstate. Just two and a half hours from Athens, on the easily accessible island of Evia, this historic thermal town is home to around eighty natural springs. Its waters, flowing at temperatures between 28° and 80°C, are naturally enriched with magnesium, calcium and iron, minerals long associated with soothing and restorative effects. What makes Aedipsos even more magical is the way its hot springs spill directly into the sea, creating pockets of semi‑thermal seawater along the shoreline. Slipping into these warm, mineral‑rich shallows feels like discovering a secret the ancient Greeks never quite gave up.

Loutra Killinis, Peloponnisos

Loutra Killinis, on the western edge of the Peloponnese, has been celebrated since antiquity for its remarkably therapeutic waters. Rich in sulphur and naturally warm, the springs here have long drawn visitors seeking relief and rejuvenation. What makes this spot particularly special is its natural mud — a mineral‑packed blend of thermal water and marine sediments that has been used for healing since ancient times. The combination is wonderfully indulgent: warm springs for deep relaxation, and silky, restorative mud that feels like nature’s own skincare ritual. It’s one of those rare places where the landscape itself seems determined to take care of you.

Kamena Vourla, Phthiotis

Kamena Vourla is a quiet seaside escape with a wonderfully unhurried charm, set about 150 kilometres north of Athens. Its hot springs, naturally warmed to between 30° and 40°C, are enriched with trace radioactive elements that many believe can help ease a range of ailments. The result is a gentle, soothing soak that feels both restorative and deeply calming. Beyond the springs themselves, the area offers easy access to cultural landmarks and nearby mountain regions, making it a lovely base for anyone seeking a blend of relaxation, nature and a touch of adventure.

Loutra Pozar, Macedonia

Pozar is one of those places where nature feels almost theatrical. At the foot of Mount Voras, a 37°C river milky with calcium carbonate cuts through a marble gorge, feeding eight outdoor pools, retro copper tubs and twin Ottoman‑era hammams. The water, nicknamed pózar (“fire” in old Serbian), has long been prized for easing neuralgia, sciatica and sluggish circulation. Just metres away, snowmelt waterfalls crash into the gorge, offering the kind of invigorating cold plunge that Nordic spas dream of. Set in the historic district of Pella, birthplace of Alexander the Great, the Pozar Thermal Baths combine hot springs, rivers and both natural and artificial waterfalls in a landscape that feels almost mythic. The Thermopotamos River flows through shallow bends and small cascades, its steady 37°C waters recommended for rheumatic, dermatological, respiratory and circulatory conditions ;  a warm, mineral‑rich embrace in the heart of the mountains.

Ypati, Phthiotis

In the shadow of Mount Oiti, Ypati’s 33°C spring bubbles up rich in magnesium, calcium and natural carbon dioxide — a mineral cocktail long favoured for easing migraines, soothing the nerves and giving the cardiovascular system a gentle reset. Ancient lore claims that Hercules once paused here to recover between his feats, letting the warm waters melt away the strain of his labours. Spend a little time soaking and you may understand why: there’s a quiet strength to this place that leaves you feeling lighter.

Lagkada, Macedonia

Just outside Thessaloniki, Lagkada offers a wonderfully atmospheric blend of history and natural wellbeing. The site is home to two impressive natural hammams fed by hot springs that have been cherished for centuries. Alongside them, therapeutic mud used since Byzantine times adds another layer of tradition to the experience. It’s one of those rare places where hot springs and healing mud coexist in perfect harmony, creating a setting that feels both deeply rooted in the past and effortlessly soothing in the present.

Milos

Milos wears its volcanic soul proudly, and nowhere is it more evident than around Paleochori and Adamas, where pockets of warm, mineral‑rich mud form naturally along the shoreline. Thanks to the island’s geothermal activity, you’ll find spots where the earth gently steams, the sand is warm underfoot, and silky therapeutic mud appears in small, inviting pools. It’s a wonderfully elemental experience, part beach, part natural spa, with the Aegean’s clear waters just a few steps away for a refreshing dip.

Filiatra, Peloponnisos

Filiatra, tucked away in the Peloponnese, is home to hot springs that feel like a true hidden gem. Surrounded by lush greenery and completely free to enjoy, they offer a wonderfully peaceful escape for anyone craving a slower pace. The warm, mineral‑rich waters are believed to have gentle healing properties, drawing both locals and curious travellers in search of quiet rejuvenation. With tranquil views over the rolling hills, it’s an easy place to linger. And once you’ve had your fill of soaking, the nearby town invites you to wander its streets and experience a slice of traditional Greek life.

Mud Bath of Lydia, Kavala

Just outside Kavala lies the Mud Bath of Lydia, a place where myth and landscape seem to blend effortlessly. Legend has it that Lydia, a goddess famed for her eternal youth and luminous beauty, drew her radiance from the very mud that still lines these shores. Over time, her secret slipped into the world, turning these natural mud baths into a beloved retreat for anyone seeking healing, revitalisation and a whisper of ancient enchantment. And since Lydia herself has tested and approved the place long before any of us, you can head there with full confidence and let nature work its quiet magic!

Kythnos

Kythnos is one of the Cyclades’ quieter treasures, and its natural hot springs are among the island’s most delightful surprises. In the Loutra area, warm thermal waters flow straight into the sea, creating gentle pockets where you can drift between soothing heat and refreshing Aegean blue. The setting is wonderfully serene : rocky coves, crystal‑clear water and far fewer crowds than on neighbouring islands. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unwind, then wander off to explore charming villages or follow scenic hiking trails that reveal sweeping views across the archipelago.

Exploring Greece’s hot springs and natural mud baths is a wonderfully soothing way to connect with the landscape — and with yourself — as long as you go prepared and tread lightly. Pro tip: check accessibility (some spots involve a short walk or hike), stay hydrated (warm waters can sneakily dehydrate you), and respect nature (leave each place just as magical and rugged as you found it). And once you’ve settled in, the experience becomes something deeper: a mud bath or a soak in a natural hot spring is a genuine moment of reconnection, giving you the space to unwind, care for your body and tune into your sensations. It’s a simple ritual that nurtures mental and emotional wellbeing, quiets external worries and restores a sense of inner balance : a true treasure for both body and mind!
