With three American companies flying directly to Athens and the daily flight of Emirates, all year round, the exhibition steps forward to bring Greece closer to the American traveling audience and America, an audience that has doubled its arrivals in our country within the recent years.
The exhibition will take place at the Vanderbilt Hall of Grand Central Terminal (42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue junction) and will include presentations for each tourist destination in Greece and the exposure of sectors such as luxury tourism, Greek gastronomy, real estate, shopping, yachting & cruises etc.

One of them is the interview of the –maybe- top Greek basketball player, in the new Greek American magazine Hellas Blu, which will be released just before the opening of the exhibition. The first festive edition will have some additional surprises such as the famous ultramarathon Konstantinos (Dean) Karnazes.

Santorini Experience - A Global Tradition On Beautiful Santorini
Running and swimming through breathtaking routes, for the 3rd year in a row!
The preparations for the 3rd Santorini Experience, which will take place on October 6th - 8th 2017, are finally coming to an end. Following the two, highly successful, previous years, Greece’s biggest tourist sporting event, is opening its gates to professional and amateur athletes, challenging them to try out their running and swimming skills. As before, the event’s beauty is largely based on the magnificent routes that the athletes will follow. The course that the runners will take will go through villages, such as Imerovigli, Firostefani and Oia, with its breathtaking view of the Caldera. For those who choose to take part in the swimming event, the starting point of the race will be the volcano, and will end at the old port in Fira, thus giving the athletes the opportunity to swim through Santorini’s black waters.
Santorini Experience is a collaboration between the Municipality of Thira of the Municipal Sports Cultural Environmental Organization of Santorini (D.A.P.P.O.S.) and Active Media Group.
The Mayor of Thira, Mr. Anastasios Nikolaos Zorzos commented on the event, “It is with great pleasure that we welcome the 3rd Santorini Experience, on our island! Another unique life experience filled with energy and volcanic aura. The event has been established, becoming a tradition, while the partaking of the locals, as well as the visitors, each year, proves this more than anything else.”
“Santorini, which is a tourist destination throughout the year, offers alternative experiences and the Santorini Experience is no exception. We continue this effort, we support and participate actively, so that our island can continue being a tourist favorite.”
Along the same lines were the comments made by President of D.A.P.P.O.S., Mr. Eleftherios Tzouros, stating, “We are waiting for you to visit us at the 3rd Santorini Experience, which will take place between 6th-8th October. A unique sporting event that has, from day one, with the participation of athletes from all over the world, shown us that it has the potential to become a global sporting event. The Santorini Experience is considered a tradition, but we choose to evolve it and it is of outmost importance that every year we try to improve the organizing, we include innovation and safety measures above all. We are waiting for you on October 6th-8th on our island.”

On the occasion of this big sports “appointment” recognized athletes will be present in “Navarino Challenge”, initially teaching ethics and then the “secrets” of their sports to people of all ages. The Greek American ultramarathon Konstantinos (Dean) Karnazes and ambassador of the event over the years highlighted, “Navarino Challenge is a truly world class event that offers something for everyone, not only runners. This is our 5th Anniversary and the Navarino Challenge showcases the very best Greece has to offer. I am incredibly honored to be part of this enduring legacy. At the same time, the twice silver Olympic medalist in TaeKwonDo, Alexandros Nikolaidis added, “I am proud to be a member of “Navarino Challenge” family for a 5th consecutive year. The event becomes enormous every year and the goal always remains the same; to introduce to as many people as we can sports, the right nutrition and good life. We educate youth through sports, without any kind of discrimination, maintaining the principles of the Olympic spirit and ideals, which require mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, brotherhood and fair play. Costa Navarino will be for another year, the center of interest for athletes and amateurs who love TaeKwonDo. Together, young and old will learn the secrets of this unique sport in one of the most enchanting destinations in Greece.”

The 1st Patmos Revelation Opens Its Doors
Swimming and running are included in the 3-days sport event at the “sacred” island!
For the first time the island of the Dodecanese will carry out high-level sporting activities. "Patmos Revelation" opens its doors and the Municipality of Patmos in cooperation with Active Media Group aims to highlight the element of sport tourism.
Sport tourism has the potential to offer the island, in addition to being a religious destination, the opportunity to become an alternative choice that will attract visitors to Patmos, who will get acquainted with a different and unprecedented experience, while preserving the mystical atmosphere of the island.
"Patmos Revelation" will take place between June 30 and July 2, 2017, where the island will host running races and open water swimming races, for professional and amateur athletes, for both young and old, with the presence of Greek Olympic and world champions. The event’ s goal is the growth of tourism on an undeniably beautiful island, offering alternative forms of tourism that enable the visitor to combine fun with sports and the knowledge of the history of the place. The event will offer a full package of entertainment to the participants leaving behind wonderful memories!
Patmos, moreover, has a great and enormous religious history, as it is the island in which Ioannis the Theologian lived exile and wrote the "Apocalypse", which is one of the greatest chapters of Christianity. "Jerusalem of the Aegean", as it is known worldwide, is a heavy heritage of religion, as it has been declared "Sacred Island" by the Greek state. At the same time, it is an UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is part of the COESIMA network as one of the seven most important places of pilgrimage in Europe.
The mayor of Patmos, Grigoris Stoikos, among other things, stressed, “We are delighted to organize "Patmos Revelation" for the first time on our hospitable island. Patmos is famous as a destination that combines religious devoutness and natural beauty. Visitors of the island can enjoy the cave of the Apocalypse, the Castle-Monastery of St. John the Theologian, which is imposing on the top, the town of Chora, which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site, wonderful landscapes, dreamy seas and natural tranquility. The reason we chose to bring sport tourism to Patmos is because we want to showcase the beauties of our island by attracting people of all ages to visit us, while offering knowledge, fun and hospitality. In this way, visitors-athletes will be able to get to know the island through running races as well as open water swimming. "Patmos Revelation" aims to attract new friends and future fans to our island. We are waiting for you to participate and meet an island, which is ready to embrace you, an Apocalypse island...”.
In terms of travel and accommodation for those who participate in “Patmos Revelation”, there will be attractive packages with many privileges. For an island where the main obstacle is access, the organization has secured special routes to facilitate the participants. At the same time, more information will be announced in the next few weeks regarding the opening of registrations and the program of the activities.

All routes start at the desalination plant in Oia, with parts of trail track, and again end in Oia.
Greek world champion of open water swimming, Kelly Araouzou, who will be attending, pointed out, “It is with great pleasure that I will be swimming in the beautiful waters of Santorini for the 3rd consecutive year. Santorini Experience is, to me, a unique experience as besides the athletic part that concerns swimming, the feeling of competing in one of the most famous places in the world is incredible! I strongly advise everyone to come and live this unique experience, on an island which is a tourist destination for the entire world all year long!”
Let it be noted that “Santorini Experience” was awarded in this year’s Ermis Awards with the Golden Award for the best sports event production for the previous year!
