FokiaNou Art Space is pleased to present "Flower Power", a group exhibition arising from an open call, curated by Panagiotis Voulgaris and Mary Cox. 

From early botanical illustrations to the works of Van Gogh, Georgia O’Keefe, Thanos Tsingos, Warhol, and Mapplethorpe, almost all artists have been influenced by flowers. The seasonal cycle of flowers can symbolize beauty, hope, life, and can act as a metaphor for human struggle. Flowers have a therapeutic effect, involving all the senses. In this open call, FokiaNou Art Space invited artists to submit work that uses flowers as subject matter, taking a variety of approaches, whether realist or unconventional, in any medium.

FokiaNou Art Space is an artist-run project space in the intimacy of a small apartment in an old building in the center of Athens. The space encourages collaborative creative efforts between Greek and foreign artists, thereby promoting and supporting the local art community. This Friday July 22, Bolivar welcomes the American leader of the electro scene MACEO PLEX to present an ELLUM night. Along with Raxon and Avision.

Maceo Plex or Eric Estornel is the big boss of Ellum Audio and Lone Romantic, "one of the five best Djs in the world" (Resident Advisor) and a recognized musical genius in the global electro industry. He has sealed some of the historic nights of legendary clubs such as Fabric, Space and Amnesia. The American producer and DJ has built his personal music empire by constantly experimenting with different musical genres such as dub, trap dance and ambient, always having tech house and techno as his base.

The Acropolis Museum celebrates August Full Moon on Friday 12 August 2022 with Greek songs about the moon, film music and famous melodies from abroad, performed by the historic Hellenic Air Force Band, in the Museum’s entrance courtyard at 9 p.m.

 

The Hellenic Air Force Band consists of senior and junior officers – high-level musicians who studied at various conservatories of the country and were admitted into the ranks of the Air Force after passing certain examination. The Band takes part in worldwide music festivals and leads the 5th Avenue parade in New York dedicated to March 25th celebrations of the Greek expatriates. Major Alexandros Litsardopoulos is the Conductor of the Band. The singers that will perform are Elena Orfanidi and Aggelos Mousikas.

   

On this occasion, the Museum will remain open from 8 a.m. to 12 midnight with free entry for all visitors from 9 p.m. onwards, giving visitors the opportunity to stroll through the galleries and enjoy the view of the Acropolis under the charming moonlight.
