So, why not spend the day embracing Athens' winter charm? Here's your perfect cozy day itinerary that mixes delicious food, charming spots, and plenty of opportunities to soak up the unique atmosphere of the city.

Start your day right with a hearty brunch at Acera The Brunch Project in Kallithea. This spot has gone viral for good reason, especially its massive wooden plate filled with everything you could want for breakfast or brunch—eggs, toasts, croissants, waffles, and more. The rustic vibe and large servings make it an iconic spot to fuel up for your day. Keep in mind, it's popular, so try to go early to avoid long waits (but trust us, it’s totally worth it!). You'll leave with a full stomach and a smile on your face!

After brunch, head over to Little Tree Books & Coffee in Koukaki for a cozy, relaxed atmosphere to sip on some coffee. This gem is not only perfect for coffee lovers but also for bookworms. You can get your caffeine fix while browsing through the selection of books—they even have cozy reading nooks to make you feel like you're right at home. It’s the perfect place to unwind before lunch and to enjoy a slow, peaceful moment in Athens.

When lunch rolls around, it’s time to get a taste of classic Athens street food. Head to Kostas Souvlaki on Filellinon Street for some of the best gyros in the city. As the day winds down, it’s time for a drink with a view. Athens is known for its stunning rooftop terraces, and there are plenty of choices depending on the vibe you’re after. Head to A for Athens or 360 Cocktail Bar, two of the most popular spots offering breathtaking views of the Acropolis and the city skyline. If you're in the mood for something cozier, Ciel Athens or Giasemi (right in the heart of Plaka) are perfect choices for a more intimate, relaxed drink. Whatever you choose, you’ll be able to enjoy a unique sunset while sipping your favorite cocktail.

No cozy day is complete without a sweet treat, and Athens has no shortage of great ice cream spots. Head to Django Gelato to indulge in some of the best gelato in the city. Whether you're in the mood for classic flavors or something more adventurous, this place is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. 1. Marousi: In Honor of Artemis

Marousi, historically known as Amarousio, owes its name to the goddess Amarysia Artemis, a local deity revered in the area. In ancient times, a grand temple dedicated to Artemis stood here, drawing worshippers from across Attica. The name has endured through centuries, and the modern suburb continues to honor its ancient heritage, blending it with a bustling urban atmosphere.

2. Kifisia: A Connection to the Kifisos River

The lush northern suburb of Kifisia owes its name to the Kifisos River, which flows through the region and historically played a vital role in the life of ancient Attica. The river, referenced in texts by ancient historians like Philochorus, served as a key water source and influenced the development of the surrounding area. Kifisia’s name reflects this geographical and cultural connection, emphasizing its historical ties to the natural landscape of Attica. Today, Kifisia is renowned for its verdant streets, elegant homes, and vibrant shopping districts, blending its natural heritage with modern sophistication.

3. Nea Smyrni: A Refugee’s Tribute

The name Nea Smyrni means "New Smyrna," a homage to the city of Smyrna (modern İzmir, Turkey) that was the homeland of Greek refugees who settled here in the 1920s following the Greco-Turkish War and the Asia Minor Catastrophe. The suburb preserves their rich cultural traditions through festivals, cuisine, and architecture, making it a lively and historical area.

4. Piraeus: The Ancient Port

Today, its cobblestone streets, neoclassical houses, and proximity to the Acropolis make it a favorite for locals and visitors seeking a taste of old Athens.

6. Glyfada: From Salty Waters to Cosmopolitan Charm



Glyfada, a prominent suburb along the Athens Riviera, derives its name from the Greek word "glyfo," meaning "salty" or "brackish." This nomenclature reflects the area's historical association with brackish water sources, particularly wells that produced saline water. 8. Kalithea: A Beautiful View

The name Kalithea means "beautiful view" in Greek, and it is believed to refer to the suburb’s panoramic vistas of the Saronic Gulf. Founded in the late 19th century, Kalithea quickly developed into a bustling urban area while retaining its picturesque charm.

THEATRE OF THE NO, Athens' first English-speaking theatre, presents the “Jim Kassavetis Quartet”.

On Saturday, January 18, at 10:30 PM, 16-year-old talented artist Jim Kassavetis, one of the rising stars of jazz known for his exceptional technique and innovative style, joins forces with internationally acclaimed saxophonist Gilad Atzmon.

Gilad Atzmon, renowned for his dynamic fusion of modern jazz with Eastern musical influences, has collaborated with legends such as Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, and Robert Wyatt. Wyatt himself has called Atzmon "the greatest living musician on the planet" (The Guardian).

Jim Kassavetis will lead the quartet, supported by Periklis Trivolis on bass and Panagiotis Thema on drums. Together, they promise an unforgettable performance as part of the “NO, Jazz Saturdays” series.

Prepare for an evening of Authentic Blues as « Blues Diffusion» takes the stage at Theatre of the No on Friday, January 17th at 22.30. Featuring the talents of Dimitris Ioannou, Vangelis Maglaras, Zoi Zioga, and Antonis Panopoulos, this dynamic group brings their passion and expertise together to celebrate the timeless power of the Blues. 

Vangelis Maglaras (Vocals, Electric Guitar): A powerhouse in Athens' music scene and the creative force behind Blues Diffusion, known for his fiery guitar sound and emotive performances. He is a founding member of Soul Walkers, Strangers, Devotion Band, and Evangelos Maglaras and the Blues Scale.

Zoi Zioga (Bass): A seasoned musician with vast experience in Rock and Blues music, recognized for her collaborations with top artists such as Vangelis Vekios (founder of Mousikes Taxiarchies), Elelef, Simos Kokavesis, and The Holly Cucumbers, among others

Antonis Panopoulos (Guitar, Vocals): Antonis began as the lead guitarist for Vavouras band and a collaborator with Panousis' Taxiarchies group. After discovering Blues Cargo in 1998, he embraced the Blues, founding bands like Blues 13, Blues Therapy, and Tony Dollar Band. Notable performances include opening for Guitar Shorty at the 2014 Blues Soul Festival in Poreta, Bologna. 

Dimitris Ioannou (Drums, Vocals, bassist, singer): A founding member of the legendary Blues Cargo, Dimitris is a bassist and vocalist who has been part of the Blues scene since 1987. With a rich history of collaborations particularly with American Blues musicians. Dimitris has now returned to his long-time love: the drums.

Hosted by the Onassis Stegi, this unique event is a celebration of creativity, bringing together diverse voices, groundbreaking music, and innovative audio experiences under one roof.

The Stegi Radio Takeover 2025 is an ambitious project that invites artists, radio producers, and creatives from around the globe to explore the limitless possibilities of audio storytelling. This year’s event promises a dynamic lineup of live radio broadcasts, panel discussions, music sessions, and experimental soundscapes designed to engage, inspire, and challenge your perception of the auditory arts.

The Main Stage is once again ‘dressed’ as a club that fills with the electro outbursts of Kittin, who comes to Athens after her impressive performance at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, the impetuous rhythms of the ‘Pope’ of minimal techno Robert Hood, the politicized, insurgent jazz of Irreversible Entanglements, who released their latest album on Impulse, the playful mix of disco, acid, and techno of David Vunk, the unpredictable genre marriage of Crystallmess, the cheeky combination of trap and rebetiko of Black Morris, aka Negros tou Moria, and the uproarious garage psychedelia of Acid Baby Jesus.

Onassis Stegi -1 radiates the intensity and hedonism of an underground club in a metropolitan center where different communities and subcultures meet and mix, with the frenetic beats of De Schuurman, the Mediterranean new club blend of STILL and Deena Abdelwahed, and the Afroglobal energy of Catu Diosis, artist of the Nyege Nyege Tapes label.

The Upper Stage is dedicated to Greek artists, with live performances by the now-acclaimed The Boy, the introverted, idiosyncratic Larry Gus, the up-and-coming cabaret pop singer-songwriter Kristof, and Venus Volcanism, who mixes polyphonic and traditional singing with experimental electronic music. The Upper Stage also includes a performance by Grand River, an Italian cinematic ambient artist.

Meanwhile at Onassis Stegi +3, join us for two hours-long sets by Dimitri Papaioannou, with eclectic ambient selections, and A@H2O>, with dub, calypso, and reggae sounds, as well as a listening session by Invernomuto and a conversation between Yannis-Orestis Papadimitriou and Stoffel Debuysere, as part of the “Ways of Listening” program.
