Moving to another country changes more than an address. Families may be adapting to a different language, school system, support network and set of cultural expectations while trying to help their children feel secure and connected. Children can carry that transition through their behaviour, while parents are often managing their own adjustment at the same time.
Maggie Pouplis is an Athens-based Greek-American Parent Coach, Nervous System & Emotional Regulation Coach, author and founder of Bonding Nest. Working in English and Greek, she supports international, expat and mixed-culture families who want to understand what may be happening beneath behaviour and find practical ways forward.
This understanding is both professional and personal. Maggie moved between Greece and the United States as a child and experienced firsthand what it means to adapt to different languages, schools, social expectations and ideas about belonging. Today, her work makes room for each family’s cultural story and for the ways cultural change can influence identity, communication, expectations and relationships.
Maggie offers:
- One-to-one parent coaching for parents seeking focused support with behaviour, emotional regulation, boundaries, communication, transitions or a family dynamic that no longer feels workable.
- Family sessions designed to help parents and children understand one another more clearly, strengthen communication and develop practical ways to move forward together.
- Parent groups offering a guided space in which parents can learn, reflect and explore the realities of family life alongside others.
- Children’s workshops using stories, creativity and accessible neuroscience to help children explore emotions, identity, connection and their inner world.
- Parent-and-child workshops created to strengthen communication and bonding through shared activities and experiences.
She also develops talks, workshops, educational resources and tailored programmes for teachers, schools and international school communities. Her themes include the developing brain, emotional regulation, behaviour as information, classroom connection, boundaries and repair, learning, and the transition into the preteen years.
For companies and organisations, Maggie creates parenting and family-wellbeing content for working parents, employee communities and professional teams. Sessions can explore parental stress, mental load, emotional regulation, communication and the nervous system at work and at home.
Her approach combines parent coaching, child development, nervous-system understanding, emotional regulation, storytelling and more than twenty-five years of experience in communication and creative direction. The aim is not perfect parenting or another universal formula. It is greater clarity, stronger connection and practical change that can work in real family life.
Maggie holds a master’s degree in Creative Writing, a 184-hour Parent Coach Certification from the JAI Institute for Parenting, a CTAA-accredited Diploma in Child Psychology and a 120-hour accredited Neuroscience Coach diploma. She was also Project Manager for Athens 2018 UNESCO World Book Capital.
She is the author of Tiny Humans, Mighty Emotions, the bilingual Lupo children’s books and What the Actual Fck Are Humans Doing?. Her articles and essays on parenting, emotional development, nervous systems and human behaviour have appeared through the JAI Institute for Parenting, ygeiamou.gr, Psychology.gr, Project Parenting, Psychiko News, Harness Magazine and Permanently Raised Eyebrow.
Maggie founded Bonding Nest to bring together professionals, educators, stories, tools and programmes around one shared belief: children thrive when the adults around them understand them. It is the educational and family-focused part of her work, creating workshops, resources and experiences that make emotional understanding and neuroscience accessible to children, parents and educators.
