Following two sold-out screenings in Athens and Volos, the CineDoc Documentary Film Festival brings the Danish documentary “Your Neighbour’s Son” (Din nabos søn) back to Athens on 15 and 16 November, at Danaos Cinema.
Directed by Jørgen Flindt Pedersen and Erik Stephensen, the film is one of the earliest cinematic investigations into the mechanisms of torture during the Greek dictatorship. Through testimonies from survivors of torture and former members of EAT-ESA, it explores how young conscripts were trained and transformed into torturers.
On Monday, 16 November, audiences can also attend a special double screening featuring “LO”, a documentary by Thanasis Vasileiou, which received the 2026 Iris Award for Best Feature-Length Documentary from the Hellenic Film Academy.
“LO” explores family secrets, personal and collective memory, trauma and acceptance. Following his mother's death, director Thanasis Vasileiou returns to his childhood apartment in Athens, embarking on a deeply personal journey through the past and the history of modern Greece.
