8th “OLYMPIC DAY RUN” GREECE & 1st THESSALONIKI CITY MARATHON
The heartbeat of the Olympic Movement will once again echo powerfully in Thessaloniki! The 8th “Olympic Day Run” Greece, the only Olympic Road Race in the country, joins forces with the 1st Thessaloniki City Marathon, the first City Marathon ever to be held in Greece, creating a groundbreaking event that transforms the city into the sports and cultural capital of the year!

On Sunday, November 23, 2025, the Olympic Day Run Greece returns for its 8th consecutive edition, featuring a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 1.5K races (all certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races). Carrying the world’s most recognizable brand – the Olympic Rings – the event launches the celebration of Olympic Day 2025. Olympians, Paralympians, members of the Olympic family and thousands of runners from across the globe embrace our vision, joining forces under a worldwide initiative held in more than 150 countries and attracting over 5.5 million participants annually!

Inspired by the vision of Thessaloniki Mayor Stelios Angeloudis and warmly supported by Kalamaria Mayor Chryssa Arapoglou, this year’s Olympic experience reaches new heights with the debut of the 1st Thessaloniki City Marathon – a global institution that Greece is hosting for the very first time! The Thessaloniki City Marathon makes its debut, strengthening the city’s identity as an Olympic City and establishing it as an international destination distinguished by its course, its character, and its vibrant atmosphere. Harnessing Thessaloniki’s unique coastal landscape, the seaside axis will be transformed into a grand celebration – stretching from the heart of the city to Kalamaria – against the backdrop of its most iconic landmarks.

Together, the “Olympic Day Run” and the “Thessaloniki City Marathon” are shaping an international event built on Olympic Values, designed to strengthen Thessaloniki’s global profile and enhance its tourism brand. Alongside parallel cultural and educational activities across the city, Thessaloniki is preparing to welcome visitors and participants from all over the world to a multifaceted celebration that will leave a lasting legacy and turn the global spotlight on Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic Games.

The event is organized by the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki, the Municipalities of Thessaloniki and Kalamaria, the Hellenic Olympic Committee, the International Olympic Academy, the Hellenic Olympians Association, Hellenic Athletics Association SEGAS and the IOC OLYMPiA, under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee and with the support of Olympians, Paralympians, institutions and all local sports clubs and federations.
