Athens Dominates Europe’s 50 Best Bars
European nightlife has a new capital. At a massive industry gala in Amsterdam, the inaugural Europe’s 50 Best Bars list was officially unveiled—and Greece absolutely cleared the board, locking down the top two spots on the continent.

Out of 50 elite venues spanning 22 cities, six Greek bars made the cut, proving that the local scene is currently unmatched.

The Historic One-Two Punch

  • No. 1 in Europe: Line AthensOperating out of a former art gallery, this powerhouse took the ultimate crown.Celebrated for its circular, zero-waste philosophy and house-fermented flavors, it is officially the best bar on the continent.

  • No. 2 in Europe: The Bar in Front of the BarRight on its heels, this high-energy, open-air pedestrian spot in Athens snatched the runner-up spot, famous for its daily-evolving menu and vibrant street-side atmosphere.

The Big Picture

While Athens stole the show with a spectacular podium sweep, the rest of the country shared the glory. The final Greek lineup features Barro Negro (No. 13), Baba au Rum (No. 14), and The Clumsies (No. 30) holding down the capital, alongside Gorila making waves for Thessaloniki at No. 33.

The Spirits Business

The rest of the list mapped out a fierce continental rivalry. Italy flexed its hospitality muscle with nine entries on the board (led by Moebius Milano at No. 6), Spain proved its nightlife royalty with six spots (anchored by Sips at No. 3), and Paris kept France in the high-end ranks with five venues. The new index highlights a mix of legendary capital city staples and emerging, boundary-pushing destinations across Europe
