On Saturday, 5 September, from 14:00 to 23:00, Zappeion welcomes Brazilian Day in Athens 2026, bringing music, dance, gastronomy and Brazilian culture to the heart of Athens.
With a truly international audience, the festival takes another important step forward this year, welcoming, for the first time, an artist travelling directly from Brazil especially for Brazilian Day in Athens 2026.
Lorena Nunes, one of the most distinctive voices of Ceará’s contemporary music scene, arrives in Athens with a sound shaped by influences from Ceará, Pará and Rio de Janeiro, blending soul, reggae, afrobeat and jazz with pop, samba and Afro-Brazilian rhythms.
Also taking the stage is Grupo Chegou Sambou, bringing the energy of Brazilian pagode, alongside Enrico da Bahia, with his mix of samba-rock and other influences from Brazilian music.
The powerful drums of BATALA return to make Zappeion vibrate with their infectious rhythms. The programme also includes capoeira, Brazilian dance performances, traditional food, Brazilian products, beauty experiences and cultural activities for the whole family.
Greece has become an increasingly popular destination for Brazilian travellers. At the same time, Brazilian culture has found a growing international audience in Greece - people who follow its artists, dance to its rhythms, discover its flavours and build an ever-closer connection with Brazil.
Organised by YELOOPS Productions, the festival aims to strengthen this cultural exchange and create more opportunities for Brazilian and Latin American artists to reach new audiences across Europe.
“Brazilian Day in Athens was created as a meeting point that goes beyond the Brazilian community. It brings together an international audience that connects with Brazil through music, tourism, its growing presence on social media and the friendships that continue to develop between Brazil and so many other countries. It is an annual meeting point and a living platform for creating new connections through culture,” says Dave Sousa, founder and director of Brazilian Day in Athens.
Brazilian Day in Athens 2026 takes place on the first weekend of September, just as Athens begins to return from the summer holidays, offering an invitation to hold on to summer a little longer. It is the perfect opportunity for the whole family to enjoy one last big summer day out before returning to the usual routine - meeting friends, discovering new sounds and flavours, and dancing in one of Athens’ most iconic locations.
September may be beginning, but no one said the celebration has to end.
