Once again, Santorini captivates the attention of the global sports community as it prepares for the 7th Santorini Experience, which will take place on October 3-6, 2024. Both professional and amateur athletes will have the opportunity to enjoy sports activities in breathtaking locations on the island, such as the Volcano and the trail connecting Oia with Fira, featuring the impressive Caldera and stunning views of the Aegean Sea.
On the morning of Friday, October 4, participants will swim from the Volcano to the old port of Fira, with the imposing view of the island in front of them, in the thrilling 1.5-miles (2.4 km) open water swimming race. The King's Special Spice: A Bilingual Tale For Young Learners
In a world often fixated on perfection, The King's Special Spice offers a refreshing perspective for both children and adults. This bilingual children’s book, beautifully written in Greek and English by Yulie Archontaki, tells the whimsical tale of a king whose obsession with perfection leads him on a journey of discovery and growth.
A Story of Culinary Perfection
The story revolves around a king who demands that everything be perfect—especially his food, which is always seasoned with his beloved spice, Berbere. But when the spice fails to arrive one day, chaos ensues. The king's servants, rather than succumbing to despair, showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills, demonstrating that there are countless ways to achieve greatness. Through the eyes of various characters, including the cook, the gardener, and the horse keeper, readers learn that perfection isn't found in a single ingredient but in the rich tapestry of experiences and solutions that life offers.

As children are gently lulled to sleep by the rhythm of the narrative, adults awaken to the deeper message that perfection is not a destination but a journey filled with variety and unexpected outcomes. This book not only entertains but also imparts valuable lessons about resilience, teamwork, and embracing life’s imperfections.

The Visionary Behind the Story
Yulie Archontaki is a remarkable author whose diverse background enriches her storytelling. Born and raised in Greece, Yulie's journey has taken her across the globe, from the UK and the USA to her recent return to Greece after a decade in Los Angeles. With an impressive educational background that includes an M.F.A. in Physical Theater and a Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture, Yulie's multifaceted experiences shape her unique approach to literature and teaching.
As the founder of the Hellenic Academy Theatre Department, Yulie has dedicated herself to educating children about the Greek language through the arts. Her innovative teaching style incorporates puppetry and theatrical techniques, engaging young minds and fostering a love for storytelling.
Her passion for storytelling extends beyond the classroom; Yulie has authored and illustrated two books, including The King's Special Spice, which was staged in 2022 under her direction. Her other work, The Diary of a Weird Child, has also made waves as a short animated film traveling to festivals worldwide. As an accomplished actor and member of The Actors’ Gang, she has collaborated with renowned theater productions and received accolades for her performances.

A Call to Embrace Life's Richness
The King's Special Spice is not just a book; it's an invitation to explore the beauty of imperfection and the myriad of solutions that life presents. Yulie Archontaki’s heartfelt narrative and engaging characters serve as a reminder that greatness can be achieved in countless ways.
As readers turn the pages of this delightful bilingual tale, they are encouraged to let go of the constraints of perfection and instead embrace the diversity and richness that come with life's challenges. This enchanting story is a perfect addition to any child’s library, offering lessons that resonate long after the last page is turned.
In a world that often pressures us to strive for flawlessness, The King's Special Spice celebrates the journey of self-discovery and creativity. It is a heartwarming reminder that sometimes, the most meaningful experiences come from the unexpected twists and turns of life.

Relaxing Before Bed: Establish a pre-sleep routine, such as reading a book, taking a warm bath, or listening to calming music.
7. Stay Hydrated & Eat Light

Your diet plays a crucial role in how you feel. During summer, focus on:
Hydration: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Infuse your water with fruits like lemon, cucumber, or mint for a refreshing twist.
Light Meals: Opt for light, nutritious meals such as salads, smoothies, and grilled vegetables. Avoid heavy, greasy foods that can make you feel sluggish.
8. Spend Quality Time with Loved Ones

Connecting with family and friends can be incredibly rejuvenating:
Family Gatherings: Plan barbecues, game nights, or movie nights with loved ones.
Social Activities: Join local summer events, festivals, or community gatherings to meet new people and enjoy shared experiences.

«FOCUS GROUP» By Marco Di Stefano & «RESISTANCE IN A TIME OF PEACE» By Jibbe Willems At Τheatre Of The No
Premiere: Friday 9th Αugust
A Double Feature of Works by Contemporary Creators
THEATRE OF THE NO, Athens' premier English-speaking theatre, presents a unique double bill featuring two contemporary plays: "Focus Group" by Marco di Stefano and "Resistance in a Time of Peace" by Jibbe Willems.
Under the direction of Chará Lianou, these plays explore both the personal and political, taking the audience on a thought-provoking and poetic journey of discovery and revelation.
Opening on Friday, August 9th, for a limited run through to September 16th.
The show opens with "Resistance in a Time of Peace", a captivating solo piece that follows a woman stranded in her car in an isolated setting, sparking reflections on the course of her life to this point. As she considers an escape from reality, and from the stifling routine of an unfulfilled romantic relationship, she embarks on an inner quest. A powerful monologue about how difficult it is to resist decisions that are in line with the expected course of events.

The closing performance is "Focus Group". The plot centers on Carla, a newcomer excited to lead a focus group in her new, well-paid and secure job. After all, this is just a team doing market research. What could go wrong? For members of this particular focus group, almost everything.

In this controversial and provocative work that explores the relationship between companies and consumers, supply and demand, truth and falsehood, reality and fantasy, the product under evaluation confronts the group members with perhaps the most basic existential question of man. The choice between life and death. A choice that is always pending.
About the Authors
Dutch playwright Jibbe Willems, with a rich background as an actor and director, has showcased his works in countries such as France, Mexico, the USA, and China, and has been distinguished at festivals like Avignon 2022.
Italian playwright Marco di Stefano, founder of the company "La Confraternita del Chianti" has brought to life the international project "Pentateuco" and collaborated with prestigious institutions like the Venice Biennale and the Croatian National Theatre, presenting works in Germany, Spain, and France.
