The history of mountain running starts and is being written in the “place beyond the mountain”. 11 years ago, Zagori Mountain Running, took its first steps, gradually transferring the unique cultural and sports images of Zagori and the Epirus region around the world. On July 23-25, 2021, Zagori is reborn with the “anniversary edition” of Zagori Mountain Running that reaches its 10 years of racing while returning stronger than ever with many surprises.

Zagori Mountain Running is an integral part of the cultural harmony of Epirus, which connects the unique geographical, historical and architectural unity of Zagori and highlights the 46 villages, with their special natural beauty and of course the warm people who have embraced it until today.

4 Races - 2 Brand New Routes
Zagori Mountain Running is a multi-speed event that meets the needs of both the most demanding mountain runners and those athletes who test their strength as amateurs, combining sports with entertainment. This year’s anniversary edition includes the well- known and traditional routes TeRA 80km and Marathon 44+, as well as the two brand new Half Marathon 21km and Entry Race 10km routes with starting and finishing points at Tsepelovo.

With Respect To The Mountain & The Environment
The organizing committee of the race, every year with respect to the unique place where the race is held, which is part of the cultural heritage of Zagori and is visited by hundreds of people from around the world; takes care of the race’s trails maintenance and the preservation of a zero environmental footprint. The race’s collectible BUFF is added to this year’s innovations of Zagori Mountain Running. Sold Out Registration Record
People’s love for the race that promotes mountain running around the world is truly unprecedented. Zagori Mountain Running’s registrations, as expected, closed with a great response. A fact that proves that this is the greatest mountain running race in Greece. The event will be held following a strict health protocol that has received the approval of the Health Scientific Committee of the General Secretariat of Sports. Always in communication with the responsible bodies (based on the pandemic’s current conditions), 2 the registrations for the 10 th anniversary Zagori Mountain Running will be opening again for two days, from Friday 09/07/21 at 09:00 until Sunday 11/07/21 at 21:00, thus giving a second opportunity to those athletes who did not manage to register before!

What Participants Should Know
Based on the current measures and the current period, all participants must bring an EU Digital Covid-19 Certificate in order to enter the event’s venue. Alternatively, they must have conducted a rapid test or a PCR test against Covid-19 within 48 hours before the start of their race and provide confirmation of their negative result. With the exception of those who will provide a vaccination certificate or a certificate that proves that they have recovered from Covid-19 within the last 2 to 9 months. Finally, if there are consecutive race days for a participant, it is recommended to do 1 test before the first race.

The 1km ZAGORAKI Children's Race
Τhe children’s favorite race returns with the coolness and hydration offered by the Natural Mineral Water ZAGORI. ZAGORAKI, the children’s 1 km distance running race, will take place this year at the village of Tsepelovo, in the afternoon of Saturday, July 24, 2021. Its goal is the contact of children with running in nature, through an entertaining activity that highlights the values ​​of sports. For the 1km children’s race, children 3 to 12 years old can participate. Each child will be awarded with a commemorative medal and a collectible technical t-shirt.

Children’s participation is FREE.

Zagori Mountain Running is a race that aims at contributing to society as a whole, through its values​​and principles all these years. This year, the event has prepared the Zagori Mountain Running collectible/anniversary bracelet, along with the “Respect the Mountains” ecological message that is present every year, which is identical with the race’s whole philosophy. The participants will be able to purchase it and contribute to the society as a whole, as all the proceeds from its sale will be given to support the work of the Association of Parents of Children with Neoplastic Disease “Floga” of Ioannina.
