For one more year, Greece celebrates the European Music Day that takes place annually on the Summer Solstice today. In 27 cities and towns all over Greece, a great number of events have been scheduled until Saturday, June 22. These include performances by orchestras, choirs, DJ’s, singers and bands that take place in streets, squares, pedestrian roads, parks, conservatories, museums, theatres, schools, institutes, bars and other venues.
Athens is host to a variety of events, among which: a reggae festival on Syntagma Square, symphonic music performances on Philopappou Hill and choral performances in the National Garden today. Megaron -Athens Concert Hall and the French Institute of Athens will also be honouring the day.
In Thessaloniki a number of events take place on June 21, among which a swing-hip hop performance on Aristotelous Square and a reggae/blues/rock concert by the White Tower. Many more live performances, shows, exhibitions etc. take place in other cities such as Volos, Messologhi, Kavala, Komotini, Larisa, Livadia, Monemvasia, Xanthi, Preveza, Serres and others, as well as the islands of Kythera, Naxos, Paros, Antiparos, Rhodes, Santorini and Skyros.
