According to the Health Minister, Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou, the smoking ban will proceed as planned on September 1st and will apply without exception to all public places. The health minister assures the public that this time the government is fully prepared to enforce the smoking ban through the help and oversite of the health inspectors, public police, and even navy police. The healthy ministry reminds us that starting on the 1st of September, smoking will not be allowed in any public spaces, not in the work place, cafes, bars, etc. An 8-month transitional period is being allowed for casinos and live entertainment establishments over 300 sq.meters, and they are expected to ban all smoking on their properties at the end of that period. Work places are not allowed to keep any designated indoor smoking area, so that employees will have to leave the building or go up to the roof in order to smoke.
