Bank hostage situation resolved in Piraeus

Bank hostage situation resolved in Piraeus
The Greek Police had announced on their twitter page (http://twitter.com/astynomia) that a bank robbery has taken place at the National Bank of Greece on 87 Iroon Politechniou street in Piraeus. Two of the robbers were initially arrested, while one remained inside the bank with hostages. The police have announced that there have been no injuries to any persons, and that the special forces and negotiators managed to negotiate the release of the last 4 hostages and the surrender of the perpetrator.

From www.in.gr:

The criminals entered with guns and hand grenades. The 2 first were caught trying to escape in a vehicle, while the lone robber kept hostages and later 4 people were used by him as human shields when he made an attempt to escape, while weilding a hand grenade. While he was making this attempt, the rest of his hostages managed to escape. Earlier, negotiators had convinced him to release 14 women.
