This tournament is undoubtedly set to become the premier junior golf event in South-East Europe. In addition to the growing body of talented youngsters in Greece, invitations will be extended to other neighbouring countries in order to secure the participation of the best available young players in the region. The first tournament will be held at the brand new Costa Navarino Resort in the Messinia region of Greece, from the 25th through the 29th July, 2010.
With the support of The Faldo Foundation, the Glyfada Golf Club of Athens will promote the tournament through the media, both locally and internationally, using magazines, newspapers, television and dedicated Internet pages.
There is no doubt that hosting such sporting events contributes greatly to an improved international image of Greece, and this is a unique opportunity. Additionally, the Glyfada Golf Club of Athens is a prime mover in preparing Greece’s top young golfers to produce a national team able to compete at the highest international level in time for the re-introduction of golf to the Olympic Games Programme in 2016.
