Premiere restaurant at the Intercontinental

Premiere restaurant at the Intercontinental
If something characterizes Sotiris Evagelou cuisine, chef at the Premiere at the Intercontinental, that would be stability and consistency towards the style that the restaurant represents. The extremely competent chef has an interesting presence at the gastronomic scene of Athens with Lycabetus hill, the Acropolis and the lightened city designing the perfect background to a cuisine with French references and intense Mediterranean components. What stand out are the squid with the peppers and the ravioli with the quail eggs in sauce made of its own ink.

Located at the roof top of Athenaeum InterContinental Athens, Premiere Restaurant strives to create a memorable dining experience for all their guests. Here experienced chefs present authentic Mediterranean cuisine prepared with the finest ingredients. International wines are served to accompany these delicacies. The special feature is perhaps the setting, with a scenic view of Acropolis and shimmering city-lights. A pleasurable feast for all the senses, this place assures you an unforgettable rendezvous

Pricy but worth it if you're looking for an indulgent European-American style dining experience.
Pros
•Virtually every table has a good view of the Acropolis and Parthenon
•Service is prompt, respectfully friendly, and willing to take care of special requests
•The huge wood-bound wine list is fun to peruse, with some reasonably-priced choices
Cons
•Expensive

•The Premiere also provides special dinners for holidays, particularly those its guests may observe. •Don't want to spring for a full dinner? Enjoy the Acropolis view from the bar.
•An outdoor patio area is open during the warmer months.
Guide Review - Restaurant
Exhausted at the end of a long trip, I reluctantly decided to dine inside the hotel with my just-turned-16 godson. He was lukewarm about the thought of a formal restaurant experience, but we finally made a reservation at the Premiere restaurant located at the top of the Hotel InterContinental. We were greeted warmly and escorted to our table, and presented with a wine list that was nearly as big as the table - a huge wood-bound book with the wine choices printed on thick fine paper. While there were bottles commanded hundreds of Euros each, there was also a good selection of more reasonably priced wines.
The food menu was substantial with mainly international, traditional choices made with mainly local produce and meats. It was his first experience with fine dining and quickly made him a convert, an expensive error I have since regretted. Both of us decided to try the steak sauced with wild mushrooms.

The casually-elegant ambiance, top-notch service, glorious view, and quality of the cuisine combined to make this hotel restaurant an excellent value. It even led me to break a long-held rule - we ate there twice in a row.. The only difference was that we were even more warmly welcomed on the second night, and they seemed genuinely excited that we had chosen to come back.

The Premiere restaurant received the 2006 Golden Chef award, and the hotel itself also won accolades as the best luxury hotel in Athens. Athenaeum InterContinental Hotel
