The Virus of Happiness
Invited by the Hellenic American Union and Katoptro Publications, Nicholas A. Christakis, Professor of Medical Sociology at Harvard Medical School will deliver his first public lecture time in Athens, on the occasion of the Greek publication of his new book, "Connected: The Surprising Power of Our Social Networks and How They Shape Our Lives. " In 2009, Nicholas Christakis was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world. In the same year, Dr. Christakis was included in Foreign Policy's Top 100 Global Thinkers list.

Christakis is a physician, social scientist and Professor at Harvard University with joint appointments in the Departments of Health Care Policy, Sociology, and Medicine. Since 1999, he has been conducting research on social factors that affect health, health care and longevity. He is known for his research regarding the creation and function of social networks.

Author Apostolos Doxiadis and Dimitris Linos, Professor of Surgery at Athens University, will present and comment on Nicholas Christakis’s research approach. Leonidas-Phoebus Koskos, Executive Director of the Hellenic American Union, will coordinate the presentation.

Admission is free upon presentation of a seating ticket.
Tickets will be given out from 7:30 a.m. on the day of the lecture.
