Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) is a fourteen-year-old girl like any other. She's trying to get along with her family, wondering whether a boy at school has a crush on her, and trying to figure out who she is and what she wants. And then, unexpectedly, she is brutally murdered. Trapped in an "in between" world that is neither life nor death, she watches over her family -- and her killer -- from heaven. Susie can't rest until her killer is found and punished. But she soon discovers that what's best for the dead is not always what's best for the living. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.
