Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake

Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake
The longest running ballet in London’s West End and on Broadway that marked the opening of Badminton Theater in January 2007 and attracted 25.000 spectators in 12 days returns to Athens to enchant the Greek audience once again! Thrilling, audacious and totally original, Matthew Bourne's legendary production transforms one of ballet's best-loved stories into a stylish, witty, poignant, contemporary tale designed to reach the modern audience – excite and move them. Daring to cast a male dancer in the coveted role of Odette/Odile known as "the Swan" and replace the traditionally female corps de ballet with a menacing male ensemble, Matthew Bourne has given birth to a powerful yet sensitive, beautiful yet provocative SWAN LAKE.

"SEE IT. Or live to regret it."
Independent on Sunday

Running Time: 2 hours & 20 minutes (including 20 minutes intermission)

Since its world premiere on November 9, 1995 at London’s Sadler’s Wells, Matthew Bourne’s breathtaking and sexy version of SWAN LAKE has become the most explosive and successful ballet in the history of modern dance, thrilling audiences and impressing critics all over the world. Having collected over thirty international theatre awards including three Tonys SWAN LAKE has been acclaimed as a landmark achievement on the international stage.

SWAN LAKE will be staged for the third time at Sadler’s Wells from December 2009 until January 2010 and will tour Britain throughout next year.

“One of Britain’s most spectacular artistic triumphs.”
The Evening Standard

“…a classic in its own right and remains the best piece of dance theatre you’re ever likely to see…”
