Marc Almond performs in Athens |

From "Tainted Love" and "Torch" to "Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart" and "The Days of Pearly Spencer," Marc Almond has followed one of the most successful careers among contemporary musicians over the last 30 years, not only from a commercial standpoint (his records have exceeded 30 million in sales), but mainly because his work has always been marked by a particular quality, humour and romanticism.
A few years ago, a terrifying accident almost cost him his life. But Marc Almond returned to the stage with a vengeance, supported by some very special people in the contemporary music world, such as Antony Hegerty (of Antony and the Johnsons), Current 93 and Jools Holland. In 2009, he released his most recent album, Orpheus in Exile - Song of Vadim Kozin, while in January he took part in Mojo magazine's collection honouring the historic Madcap Laughs by Syd Barrett by adapting "Late Night." Almond's brand-new album, Variete, is due out in June and he said it will be the last album to include his own compositions.
He will be presenting this new material live for the first time on 19 March at Gagarin 205 in Athens, along with many of the pieces that established Marc Almond as one of the most important figures in pop music over the last three decades. His marvelous voice will be accompanied by a full life five-member band.
