Datarock, the synth-pop quintet from Norway with its matching work overalls and trademark sunglasses have been invited by the Self Preservation Society for a unique concert on 4 March at the historic Kyttaro Live in Athens, Greece. Datarock are the musicians who made pretentious kitsch their standard, naming their sound and their philosophy in general "retrofuturism." Each of their albums is a tribute to the 1980s, giving new life to the most misunderstood musical decade. It is no accident that the instruments they used on their last album, Red, were made before 1983. With three successful albums to their name and the smash hit "Fa-Fa-Fa," which was even used in a Coca Cola ad, Datarock are counted among the most important bands on the planet.
Each of their appearances includes a show from another dimension, an intermediate dimension where Duran Duran and the Pretenders meet Moby and the Gorillaz. They all band together for a unique spectacle which may not always be different, but it is always enchanting.
