Anti-mafia police and the local Interior Ministry arrested a man and his wife in Sliven after they were revealed to be the organizers of the pregnant women smuggling channel. Two people have been arrested in the Sliven district for trafficking pregnant women from Bulgaria to Greece, the local police reported Thursday. During an operation to stop the trafficking of people at the Kulata border crossing between Bulgaria and Greece on Sunday the organizers were named and a nationwide man-hunt for the 38-year-old man was started. The man and his wife from the Lyubenova neighborhood of Nova Zagora are now being questioned, after being officially accused of trafficking pregnant women for the sale of their babies. The investigation identified three specific cases in which women sold their newborn babies.The organizers of the trade of pregnant women, from Yambol, Haskovo, Plovdiv, Kazanlak and Dimitrovgrad were paid between EUR 5000 and 10 000 in Greece for the babies.
