The Taming of the Shrew by the National Theater

The Shakespearean comedy is running at Stage Kotopouli, with Karabeti - Sakellariou. Focusing on the ever timeless issue of relations between the two sexes, the popular comedy by William Shakespeare, The Taming of the Shrew, is staged by the National Theater, directed by Konstantinos Arvanitakis. The play is running in Stage Kotopouli, until January 25.

Katerina, dynamic but also painfully honest, unpredictable and straight-talking, refuses to play by the rules of the game. Men are afraid of her intelligence and avoid her. They call her "the devil", "a living hell" and....a shrew. Petruchio comes in and takes action, chosing a difficult task: to "tame" the shrew. Their encounter is explosive but also hilarious, as they collide head-on and the ensuing marriage is beyond any logic and imagination.

The play is a masterpiece comedy based on a passionate yet tender love story - a game of masquerades and images, where the boundaries between dream and reality are vague and love sets the rules.
