The government's economic staff remain concerned by the high rate of inflation standing at 4.9% for the third consecutive month. However, state revenues have indicated a significant recovery during the last period.
At present the government is centering on income taxation which once again have brought up injustices at the expense of pensioners and salary earners.
Economy Minister, Giorgos Alogoskoufis is already considering proposals for taxing high incomes and the establishment of a minimum tax for businessmen and free lance professionals.
The government's economic staff places emphasis on lowering the inflation rate and cutting expenditures as well as increasing revenues by combatting tax evasion.
