The American College of Greece For a century and thirty one years The American College of Greece, now comprised of Pierce College, Junior College, Deree College, the Graduate School, and the School of Continuing Education and Professional Studies, has provided for the educational needs of progressive communities and individuals, first in Asia Minor and later - from 1923 till the present day - in the capital of Greece.From a single class in Smyrna in 1875 of fewer than twenty young girls, representative of a handful of nationalities, we have grown into a student body of more than eight thousand young men and women drawn from at least twenty-five ethnic backgrounds. This student body is served by a highly qualified and competent faculty, offering the best of American and Greek education.All faculty, staff, and students have access to a wide variety of campus facilities, to public affairs and cultural programs, and to extracurricular activities unrivaled by those at any other American educational institution in Europe. These have developed over the years and continue to multiply, notwithstanding that no similar non-profit American-sponsored college of learning in Europe has lower tuition fees or enjoys so solid a financial basis. Moreover, The American College of Greece offers scholarships and financial help to those who have proven need.
