Greek Pianist Wins European Distinction

Greek pianist Constantinos Destounis was awarded second prize at the European Piano Competition, held in Bremen, Germany on March 7, 2012.

Competing against 52 pianists from all over the world, Destounis performed Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1 in B-flat minor with the Bremen orchestra.

The three winning performances of the competition have been recorded and will be released in a special tribute CD. The 21- year-old piano virtuoso is a senior student at the Music Science and Art Department of the University of Macedonia and an Onassis Foundation scholarship recipient. He was recently honoured by the Academy of Athens and represented Greece at the 2010 European Competition for young pianists.
