Moby & Amy Winehouse at Ejekt Festival

The Ejekt Festival, the big music festival in Greece, continues its successful course for the seventh consecutive year, maintaining as its focus the same prescription: to present top names in pop, rock and electronic music on the same stage, a real celebration of music. For 2011, the Ejekt Festival presents for the first time in Greece, the ultimate diva of contemporary music: Amy Winehouse! Joining her are: Moby, Blackfield, Baby Guru, and The Vaccines. Winehouse is, unquestionably, the leading singer who emerged in the previous decade in the world music scene. Her songs have become anthems: "Rehab", "You Know I'm No Good," Back To Black "," Tears Dry On Their Own "," Love Is A Losing Game "," Stronger Than Me ", "Take The Box", "In My Bed / You Sent Me Flying".

It is the only artist in many years who has occupied so much the public and media, both with her incredible talent, and with her hectic life. Everyone is talking about one of the greatest singers in history and compare her with legends like Billie Holiday. And they are not wrong.

The influence of Amy Winehouse in the music industry is so large as to create the term "phenomenon Winehouse" to describe how her success paved the way for full restoration of British music on the world stage for the first time since the Beatles! It is no coincidence that large names like Duffy and Adele acknowledge that they owe her much.

And all this with only two records! In 2003, aged just 20 years, with the debut of "Frank" she was able to break many sales records in Great Britain and to win many awards but her most impressive feat was that she managed to bring jazz music back in fashion!

But it was nothing compared to the success experienced in 2007 and since then, with the ultimate record of the decade: the "Back To Black" which has sold so far more than 10,000,000 copies worldwide and has become platinum in dozens of countries! It's the album that made Great Britain fashionable once again. For the first time in decades a British artist managed to conquer America. The album spent months on U.S. top charts and won 5 Grammy awards!

The "Back To Black" is also the record that brought back in fashion the music of 50s and 60s, thanks to the unique combination of rock & roll, r'n'b and soul songs of Amy. Her overwhelming success broke the boundaries of music and went to the wider pop culture: the appearance of Amy Winehouse, with vintage clothes and impressive hairstyles became a model for countless women and influenced so dramatically the fashion industry!

2011 is the year of the great return of Amy Winehouse: in the Spring she announced that she will release her awaited new album. As four years have passed since "Back To Black", the expectation of the audience is huge and the release is the discography event of this year. It is also the year that Amy is first back on tour since 2008, and she will appear - as a leading name - in the biggest festivals on the planet!

The full line-up of Ejekt, with more big names will be announced in coming days.

Moby sings and plays keyboard, guitar, bass guitar and drums. He became a successful artist on the ambient electronica scene, and achieved eight top 40 singles in the UK during the 1990s. In 1999 he released the album Play, a mix of melancholic chill-out, ambient music, and upbeat electronica, that was critically acclaimed and produced an impressive eight hit singles (including his most popular songs "South Side", "Porcelain", "Natural Blues" and "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?"). Play became a commercial success, selling over 10 million copies worldwide (the best-selling electronica album ever)[citation needed] and with its eighteen songs receiving an unprecedented licensing in films, television and commercial advertisements.

His follow-up album, 18 (2002) was also successful, selling over 5 million copies worldwide and receiving positive to mixed response. His next offer, the mostly upbeat Hotel (2005) received mixed to positive reviews and sold around 2 million copies worldwide. Moby released his most recent albums, Last Night (2008) and Wait for Me (2009), finding higher critical acclaim and moderate sales. AllMusic considers Moby "one of the most important dance music figures of the early '90s, helping bring the music to a mainstream audience both in the UK and in America". Worldwide, Moby has sold over 20 million albums.
