Let’s Do It Greece!

International volunteer campaign Let’s Do It! comes to Greece for the first time ready for a major spring-clean. The initiative began in 2008, when volunteers in Estonia decided to clean up illegal dumpsites, which resulted in a mass effort by 50,000 people to collect 10,000 tons of garbage from their country’s forests. Since then the movement has turned global.

The Greek cleanup day is set for April 29, and Let’s Do It Greece! invites NGOs, environmental groups, authorities and citizens to participate in an effort to eliminate illegal waste in cities, forests, beaches and villages.

The campaign is coordinated by the Hellenic Solid Waste Management Association and the Time For Action Attica Environment Group. Volunteers from all over Greece have signed up to participate, while the solid waste mapping process is almost complete.
