Acropolis Museum Birthday Celebrations!

The new Acropolis Museum celebrates its third anniversary on today and the public is invited public to a unique all-day event featuring music and other events. The cost of entrance tickets to the museum, which will be open from 8am to midnight, will be reduced on the day.






From 11am to 8pm, small music ensembles, featuring renowned soloists, will perform around the museum, bringing the public on a musical journey from antiquity through to the renaissance, baroque, the classical and the romantic eras but also into the 20th century.

The programme includes the following music ensembles: Expromte, Guitart, the Papagiannakis-Mantzouratos violin-piano duo, Ritornello, the Karpathiou-Lykoura ensemble of Greek musical instruments, the Chrysea-Forminx ensemble, the Q-Innegal Quintet, the Christodoulou-Neofytidou violin and piano duo, the Kitharis ensemble of the Filippos Nakas Conservatory, the Trio Solvista, Guitar 4-Tune, and a trio of operatic artists.

Visitors will also be treated to two performances by Hellenic Broadcasting (Ert) Choir and Orchestra of Contemporary Music: the choir will Dodecanese works of Kostas Giannidis (Yiannis Konstantinidis) and excerpts of compositions by Javier Busto and Lajos Bardos at at 8.30pm in the ground floor of the museum.

An hour later, the Ert orchestra will perform works by Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, Lefteris Papadimitriou and Stavros Xarchakos.
