Acropolis Half Marathon: A successful First

Greece's Dimitrios Tsiounis took first place at the 1st Acropolis Half Marathon held in the Greek capital yesterday, completing the 21,100-metre course in 1:14:17, followed by Dimitris Kotsolaris, Alexios Kontaratos, Georgios Alifierakis, Alexandros Raptis and Dimitrios Dritsakis in 2nd to 6th place and Javier Verdu Cabrejas in 7th.


With the slogan Take a breath and join us in running the history of our city, the Athens Run 2012, which was held for the first time, featured the Acropolis Half Marathon and parallel of 8- and 13-km races for both men and women, as well as a 700m race for people with special needs. The organizers -the City of Athens Organization of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Hellenic Association of Amateur Athletics (SEGAS)- seek to establish the Acropolis Half Marathon as an annual event.
